With support from WorkSource Reentry services, Scott accessed CDL training and secured employment earning $34 per hour with benefits.

For Scott, preparing for life after incarceration began before he ever left prison.

Through WorkSource Reentry services, Scott connected with a community case manager over Zoom to develop a plan for his transition home. Together, they identified the resources and opportunities that could help him rebuild his life and pursue a stable career.

That early preparation made a difference. Rather than navigating reentry alone, Scott returned to his community with a plan and a team ready to help him move forward.

From Reentry Planning to Career Training

One of Scott’s most important connections was with Elena Esquivel, a member of the WorkSource ReEntry team. Elena helped him secure funding for commercial driver’s license (CDL) training, opening a pathway toward employment in the transportation industry.

Through the WorkSource Reentry, and ReStart programs, Scott also received financial assistance, career guidance, and ongoing case management support.

The combination of practical resources and personal encouragement helped him build confidence as he worked toward his goals.

Today, Scott is employed, earning $34 per hour with benefits, an important milestone in creating financial stability for himself and his family.

“This accomplishment means a great deal to me and represents an important step forward in rebuilding my life and creating a stable future,” Scott shared.

Looking back, Scott credits the reentry team not only for helping him access career training, but also for believing in his potential and supporting his transition back into the community.

His experience demonstrates how early planning, personalized guidance, and access to workforce training can help people returning from incarceration build meaningful careers and lasting stability.
