Michael Fowler has been recognized with the Workforce Champion Award by the Oregon Workforce Partnership. He was presented with this award on May 16 at a Board meeting of Willamette Workforce Partnership.
Michael is an owner/manager of Cabinet Door Services in Salem, Oregon and has been a stalwart presence on the Willamette Workforce Partnership board since 2007. Through the years he served in a number of leadership positions, some during major change at the organization. Self-described as in “a constant state of learning and growing,” he brings intelligent inquiry, passion and integrity to all his endeavors.
His innovative management approaches include partnering with Mid-Valley Literacy Center to bring literacy training to Cabinet Door employees, being certified to train employees in work-ready skills based on cognitive behavioral techniques and implementing a competency-based learning program. He previously worked in the banking industry and was a VP of commercial lending and left banking in November 2005 to join Cabinet Door. He holds a BA.SC., Political Science and an MBA both from Willamette University.
Michael decided not to serve another Willamette Workforce Partnership board term when his ends in June. His dedicated leadership will be missed. He stated the he “needs to step out so others can step up.”
